Meet Dr. Weinberg
Dr. Weinberg practiced as an OB/Gyn in Boulder, Colorado for over 25 years. As her career flourished, she was continually faced with patients who felt lost and confused in their menopausal journey due to the lack of access to evidence-based options for perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms. Her patients needed a doctor to spend time to hear about their symptoms and help them make an informed decision about treatment.
With the menopause taboos disappearing, more women are now searching for doctors who specialize in women's health during the post-child-bearing years. While this type of specialty is still rare, Dr. Weinberg is one of the few who is at the forefront of care options. Her philosophy revolves around listening, reviewing, researching, and treating. She spends the time to customize every one of her patient's journey to address their symptoms, their lifestyle, and their needs.

My Philosophy...
The current health care system does not allow time for providers to fully evaluate all of the ways that perimenopause and menopause may be affecting a patient’s life. Because of this, I've customized Boulder Menopause Specialists to schedule longer appointment times. This way I have the time to hear about all of the issues, try to address as many as possible, and review all of the options for treatment, the benefits and risks, and the details about how to use them.
At Boulder Menopause Specialists, my management model allows time to listen to your individual experiences and needs and then develop a comprehensive plan to begin to address them.
Do you prescribe or refill bioidentical compounded
hormones and pellets?
I do not prescribe or refill compounded hormone medications, including pellets due to concerns about safety and effectiveness. In most cases, a similar FDA-approved bioidentical hormone medication can be used.
Bioidentical hormone therapy refers to hormone medications whose molecular structure is similar to or identical to the hormones that your body makes. Bioidentical hormones are available as FDA-approved, monitored medications. There is no data showing that compounded hormone therapies are more effective or safer than FDA-approved therapies. FDA-approved hormonal medications are much more likely to be covered by your health insurance than compounded versions, so may be a more affordable way to manage symptoms. There are very rare exceptions to this. Please see the articles and citations section for the basis of this position.
Do you prescribe hormonal testing?
I do not recommend or order extensive hormonal testing. Per the Menopause Society, the evaluation and treatment of perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms is based on symptoms and symptom improvement, not on blood levels. There are very rare exceptions to this.
